Tamiya 1:32 F-14A Tomcat

My Newest Collections

My past acomplishments over the last few months will be these

The big boys, 1/32

I actually place the very big ones on the side board in my living room.
For those the size of F-5s and F-16s I put them in a book case i bought from carrefour

Building a 1:32 Hasegawa F-5E

Well, I just gave away a 1/32 F-5E to a friend. Actually it is not given away, it is more like i helped him construct it. So here goes.
I started off by assembling the cockpit. It was painted with light gull grey too. I haven't done the detailing for the switches yet.

Sprayed the instrument panel and side panel black. I dry brushed the instument panel with white to bring out the details. I dropped a drop of clear acrylic gloss on to each of the instrument face. Switches were painted white. I did not have any reference photograph.
Ok Previously you saw the F-5 cockpit. So this is how it looks like when fixed onto the fuselage.

One thing good about this hasegawa kit is that the fitting is really good. But too bad it is using protruding panel lines instead of recessed panel lines. So 1/2 a day is spent on rescribing.

The forward fuselage is fitted onto the rest of the body. Hardly any gap filling is needed. Almost like you take some cement, some super glue, throw it into the box, shake it a little and a full plane comes out.
An image of the rear end of the F-5. One side of the main wing is fitted on.

The F-5 is more or less done. Haven't painted, nor have I added landing gears.

F-5 Artic Tiger. Painting commences
I painted the first coating with duck egg blue. After which, the stripes were painted with intermediate blue.
Here's the family Picture with the other F-5s
added landing gears and wheels.

Finally I added Decals to it.

I followed the aggressor pattern, but i thought the red star would be boring. So i put a wolf pic which is from my acedemy F-16C. I scanned it into my computer and printed out with decal paper. In fact all the decals here are customized. I find it more fun.

F/A-18C Hornet (VFA-25 "Fist of the Fleet") - Hasegawa 1:72

Whilst researching the weapons / stores used during Operation Desert Shield I have broken out the box and started to take parts off the sprues for cleanup.
So far all the parts required are off the sprues and cleaned up and now ready to start assembly of the cockpit
Using a Verlinden SJU-5/A seat in place of the kit seat I painted up the cockpit ready for the assmbly of the fuselage
F/A-18C Hornet (VFA-25 "Fist of the Fleet") - Hasegawa [1:72], EA-6B Prowler (VAQ-139 "Cougars") - Hasegawa [1:72], F-14A Tomcat (VF-21 "Freelancers") - Hasegawa [1:72] & A-6E Intruder (VA-196 "The Main Battery") - Italeri [1:72] ready for build..

After a Klear coat was applied, I then applied the markings from the Superscale sheet, and had to add the stencils from other sheets I had acquired. Once I cleaned the decal adhesive and setting solutions, another Klear coat was applied, ready for the stage - an oil wash.
Completed. Not matter how careful I was in the assembly of the undercarriage, the model still has a slight tilt to its right.

F/A-18C Hornet (VFA-22 "Fighting Redcocks") - Hasegawa 1:72

Pictures of completed aircraft. I used the sidewinders, LST/SCAM and FLIR pods from the kit, and added two GBU-31 JDAM's and a GBU-12 from the Hasegawa Weapons Sets #12 & #11 respectively. The decals are from the excellent Twobobs sheet #72016. After a Klear/Future coat was applied over the decals, I applied a Burnt Sienna Oil wash. After curing for a few days I applied a Pollyscale Flat Varnish. All other paints used were Humbrol enamels. The Clear stand was from Airfix.
